A Great Place to Get away from it all...
A Haven for PrayerThe Spiritual Renewal Center is the realization of one of the principal goals set by the Diocese of Victoria since its inception on May 29, 1982. The purpose of the center is to offer the people of the diocese and others a haven for prayer, reflection, and spiritual nourishment, plus a unique meeting place for organizational learning and training conferences. In Communion with Nature Groundbreaking for the Spiritual Renewal Center took place in April of 1987. Located on the San Antonio River about 20 miles southwest of Victoria. Most buildings of the center are constructed out of cedar logs, rustic in appearance, and set in surroundings where the pure sounds of nature contribute to this ideal setting for prayer and contemplation. Building structures and surrounding landscape are inadvertent reminders of pioneering days and prompt images of a rugged, slower paced lifestyle. Near the cluster of log cabins stands a huge oak tree, estimated to be over 2000 years old, under which settlers rested and shaded themselves from the South Texas sun. With Wildlife all AroundBirds, deer and squirrels populate the grounds and fish plow the river's waters nearby. Just off the river bank a pecan grove is scoured nightly by ferral hogs that roam through the area. The wild flora and fauna offer themselves for contemplation and thanksgiving for all the natural beauty placed here by the Creator. This scenic setting offers endless photographic possibilities.
The Spiritual Renewal Center features multiple buildings for couples and
groups and can accommodate up to 99 people for your event. With onsite
conference and dining facilities and Incarnate Word Chapel the center is
equipped for a variety of uses.
